“Marmalade”
Target tabby cat, vintage era
Marmalade has always considered himself an adventurous sort, provided the adventure is not too far away and everyone agrees to be home before dark. He likes garden paths, quiet bookstores, picnics where someone remembered a blanket, and any outing that involves being carried for the more strenuous portions.
He is particularly fond of traveling by canvas backpack. Tucked inside with his paws resting over the edge, Marmalade likes to keep watch as the world passes by — trees overhead, unfamiliar windows, the occasional dog requiring careful observation. He has no desire to wander off on his own. The important thing about an adventure, as far as he’s concerned, is having someone beside you who knows the way home.
Marmalade keeps his ambitions modest: a little farther than yesterday, something new to look at, and home again in time for supper.
